Isuzu Axiom car photos, images and pictures. The Isuzu Axiom was an SUV designed in Japan using a "knife blade" theme for its car-like styling. Built in Lafayette, Indiana, U.S. at the joint Subaru-Isuzu plant on the Rodeo platform. It jointly replaced the Trooper, but was itself replaced by the Isuzu Ascender for the 2005 model year. The name "Axiom" was determined by a naming contest held by Isuzu, and was won by Dr. Hakan Urey from Redmond, Washington, who suggested the name and won his own Axiom in 2001. The Axiom is available with a torque on demand four-wheel drive system, and a direct-injection engine was added in 2004, boosting power from 230 to 250 hp (172 to 186 kW). The Axiom's radical styling was too extreme for some although a surprising number of its design elements later found their way into SUVs from other manufacturers. Unfortunately, under the Axiom's cutting-edge body was the largely unchanged Rodeo chassis, which was judged to be crude by critics. The stylish body was also available only as a luxury entry which limited the sales market. The Axiom was discontinued in July 2004 after only three years of production, and the Lafayette plant became exclusively home to build just Subarus. It was retooled to build the Subaru B9 Tribeca. With the retirement of the Rodeo and Axiom, Isuzu, which once sold a complete line of cars, trucks and SUVs, no longer offered any Japanese-built consumer vehicles in the United States. From 2006-2009, the lineup consisted only of rebadged General Motors vehicles: a GMC Canyon pickup and GMC Envoy SUV. Isuzu began its withdrawal from North American markets, with Canada after the 2002 model year, followed by the United States after the 2009 model year. Also, the Axiom was never sold in Canada.

Daihatsu Terios Review

The Terios is a compact SUV co-developed by Daihatsu and Toyota, with looks inspired from the more expensive Toyota RAV4.

In its second generation, the Terios is available in two body styles; a short wheelbase three-door model that can seat five and a long wheelbase five-door variant capable of seating seven.

The third seating row in the seven-seater Terios is short on space and is best occupied by children or folded to generate more luggage space.

Both short and long wheelbase versions are powered by a 102bhp, 1.5-litre motor mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Performance is only adequate and drivers may feel the need for more power at motorway speeds especially in the full time four-wheel drive version or the longer wheelbase version.

While the short wheelbase five-seater version comes with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive the seven-seater Terios is available only with two-wheel drive. Though the Terios is designed for the road the full time 4X4 short wheelbase version can handle mild off-road excursions too.

The Terios’s compact dimensions and relatively light weight are more in line with modern hatchbacks rather than a SUV. At the same time it affords SUV like high seating position, high ground clearance, interior space and 4X4 capability at a bargain price.

The interiors are basic and built to a price but have an airy feel thanks to the generous glass area. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, integral audio system, power windows and reverse parking sensors. Safety kit consists of the rudimentary dual front airbags and ABS with EBD.

Vauxhall Corsa

The Opel Corsa is a supermini that has been produced and engineered by Opel since 1982 and has also been sold under a variety of other brands (most notably Vauxhall, Chevrolet, and Holden), and also spawned various derivatives in different markets, all of which are listed in appropriate sections below. The names Vauxhall Nova, Holden Barina and Chevrolet Chevy have been used for the Corsa in certain markets.
Despite its global presence, it has never been sold in the United States or Canada.
The Corsa is built at Figueruelas in Spain, and in other countries such as Argentina (Rosario), Brazil (São Caetano do Sul and São José dos Campos), Colombia (Bogotá), Mexico (Ramos Arizpe), South Africa (Port Elizabeth), India (Halol), and China (Shanghai).

The front-wheel drive Corsa was first launched in April 1983 to replace the Opel Kadett C City. Built in Zaragoza, Spain, the first Corsas were three-door hatchback and two-door saloon models, with four-door and five-door versions arriving in 1984. The basic model was called just the Corsa, which was followed by the Corsa Luxus, Corsa Berlina and the sporty Corsa SR. Six years later, the Corsa received a facelift, which included a new front fascia and some other minor changes. The models were called LS, GL, GLS and GT. The Corsa was known in the UK market as the Vauxhall Nova.
Power first came from 1.0 L 45 hp, 1.2 L 55 hp, 1.3 L 70 hp and 1.4 L 75 hp petroleum engines. (the first engines were all equipped with carburators, fuel injection came later, only on the 1.2 and 1.4 engines). The engines were based on well proven GM Family II design, except for 1.0 L engine which was based on the OHV unit from the Kadett C. There was also a 1.5 L diesel engine available, which was also used in the Isuzu Gemini at around the same time. The engines and most of the mechanical components were derived from those used in the Astra/Kadett.
A rare "Sport" model was produced from 1983 in order to homologate for the sub 1300 cc class of Group A for the British Rally Championship[citation needed]. These sport models had SR suspension, SR engine with twin Weber 40 DCOE carburettors, a bespoke camshaft, close ratio GTE gearbox, and few luxuries. This gave 93 hp and a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h) with a 0-60 mph time of 8.9 seconds. These are by far the rarest models (500 produced) and thus acquire a high market price if one does become available.
A 1.6 L multi-point fuel injected engine with 100 PS (74 kW) and capable of 186 km/h (116 mph) was later added to the Corsa/Nova, giving decent performance and being badged as a GSi (GTE in pre-facelift models in the UK, later models were all called GSi). A model with an 82 PS (60 kW) 1.4 L multi-point fuel injected engine also became available as the SRi, which was otherwise mechanically identical to the GSi.
The design was freshened in 1990 with new bumpers, headlights, grille and interior, but the car was showing its age against strong competition such as the Volkswagen Polo and Peugeot 106
