1968 Chevrolet Caprice was a "classic" new roof, said this year's sales brochure. "Nothing on the road is more distinctly elegant." Again, complimentary luxuries made Whims and ashtray lights, an electric clock, and a center armrest - and wildest places and door panels. Carpets whim even ran up the side kick panels and door bottoms.

New windows were ventipanes but promised a higher profile. Astro Ventilation should pull outside air without having to open a window. Most Chevrolets have hidden windshield wipers. The posh Caprice was coming strong, however, with 115,500 produced this season. So as sales climb Caprice, the Impala Super Sport's suffered a decline. Size cars could have a modest 250 cubic-inch six, a 307 cubic inch V-8, or a pair of 327s, or a power of 325-396 cubic inch V-8. Topping the list was the great 427, rated at 385 or 425 horsepower - enough force, even in a heavy Chevy. Decisions, decisions.
