1960-1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner and Starliner-Third Generation

1960 Ford Galaxie 500XL

1960-1961 Ford Galaxie Sunliner and Starliner generation were more outrageous than Ford's early 1960, big cars. All-new 1960 Galaxy were about six inches longer, almost 200 pounds heavier and nearly five inches wider. It's so Graceful style, so helped hide its weight, but with a straight A-pillars, sloping hood, grille simple,  clean chrome-edged fenderlines, and modest tailfins horizontal.

Starliner was a real surprise but Sunliner again led the top-line Galaxie group: the pillarless semi-fastback two-door hardtop replacing the highly popular in 1959 version square of roof. It seemed ready to run. He also sold well, although obviously not well enough to meet Ford. Sales plummeted Starliner, the model would not return and a conventional hardtop coupe was reinstated in 1961.

All 1961 Fords "standard" were slightly and lighter and shorter, and tastefully done more with a hood retired body side more rounded, concave grille, and a return to the big round lights . Ford began to be better "Total Performance" in these years to 1960, "360 Interceptor" version of the 352 V-8, then 1961 is enlarged with 390 big block that provides up to 401 hp.
