Transmission and chassis-Engine-Execution-Exterior and Interior of 2005 Pontiac GTO

The 2005 Pontiac GTO is a modern muscle car of General Motors. The revived GTO, which debuted as a 2004 model, is essentially the same car as the Australian market Holden Monaro. Sharing everything from chassis to almost all the body panels with the Monaro, the GTO is a solid actor, but does not meet sales expectations of GM. Significant changes on the car of 2004 included more aggressive exterior styling complete with spoons and prominent double-layer switch LS1 to LS2 engine for a gain of 50 horsepower.

Transmission and chassis

As the old classic GTOs, the car uses a 2005 front-engine, rear-wheel drive architecture. Two transmissions were available, a standard four-speed automatic and a six-speed manual optional. Fans, of course, opted for manual, critics panned it for too long and the action moves balky making it difficult to change quickly and correctly. Independent suspension with shock absorbers and coil springs in front and a system of right arm on the back helps keep the car balanced. As for the brakes, see the GTO four-wheel discs, ventilated in front, and standard antilock brake system.

Exterior and Interior

Great for standard sport coupe, the GTO measures 189.8 cm long, 72.5 cm wide and 54.9 inches tall. Mounted on a 109.8-inch wheelbase, the car weighs 3,725 pounds. Interior leather seating is standard with room for four adults, although no navigation system was offered.

Execution

In tests of Motor Trend magazine, the 2005 GTO accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, beating a BMW M3 in relation to the same model year. The quarter mile came in 13.3 seconds at 105.9 mph. The GTO pulled 0.83 g on the skidpad. Braking 60 to 0 mph in 138 feet came from. Despite being faster in a straight line, the GTO lost to a 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 in the magazine's comparison test in part because of its handling comparatively lower.

Engine

For 2005, the GTO is powered by GM's LS2 V8 pushrod engine, an engine taken directly from the Chevrolet Corvette. Capacity 6.0 liter 16-valve, the LS2 has a hole of 4.0 inches by 3.62-and stroke and a 10.9 to 1 compression ratio in GTO trim. Power output is the same 400 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 400 ft-lbs. of torque at 4,000 rpm. This engine requires premium fuel and see EPA-estimated gas mileage of 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
